Prime Bank Half-Year Profit Hits KShs 3.35 Billion

NAIROBI, Kenya – Prime Bank has posted a 27.9% increase in profit after tax to KShs. 3.35 Billion for the first half ended 30th June 2026, up from KShs. 2.62 Billion recorded in the same period last year.
The strong results reflect growing customer trust across retail, SME, and corporate banking, as well as the Bank’s focused efforts to keep its lending portfolio healthy and costs under control.
Commenting on the results, Managing Director Mr. Rajeev Pant said the performance highlights the Bank’s steady execution of its business strategy.
Financial Performance Highlights
- Strong Earnings Growth
- Profit after Tax: 3.35 Billion (H1 2026) vs KShs. 2.62 Billion (H1 2025) – 27.9% increase.
- Total Interest Income:Rose to KShs. 10.32 Billion from KShs. 9.99 Billion – 3% growth.
- Non-Interest Income: 940 Million, reflecting ongoing efforts to diversify revenue sources.
- Government Securities Interest:Surged 14.8% to KShs. 6.35 Billion from KShs. 5.53 Billion, driven by higher lending to the government.
- Balance Sheet Strength
- Loans and advances to customers:rose to KShs. 60.5 Billion from KShs. 55.7 Billion recorded same period last year, 8.62% increase.
- Customer Deposits:Rose 11.3% to KShs. 168.81 Billion from KShs. 151.68 Billion, showing strong confidence among savers and businesses.
- Shareholders’ Equity
- Equity:Expanded by 31.46% to KShs. 76.10 Billion from KShs. 57.89 Billion, largely driven by profits reinvested back into the business.
- Strong Capital and Liquidity Position
- Core Capital Adequacy Ratio:6% – well above the Central Bank of Kenya’s statutory minimum of 14.5%.
- Liquidity Ratio:7%, far exceeding the 20% requirement, giving the Bank a strong buffer against any market volatility.
“Our focus remains on maintaining a strong and sustainable business while continuing to support our customers and create long-term value,” added Mr. Pant.
The Bank remains optimistic about the second half of the year, with a continued focus on supporting trade, SMEs, and corporate banking needs across the region.
