Prime Bank has once again reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare development with a KShs 5.1 million donation to the Talek Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) facility at CHP Talek Health Centre. The contribution will enhance life-saving services for mothers and children in the Maasai Mara region.
An initiative of the Maa Trust Foundation, the Talek MNCH facility has revolutionized regional healthcare, recording 425 safe deliveries in its first year – including 97 critical Caesarean sections. The center has become a vital lifeline, particularly for high-risk cases, with one-third of its patients being adolescent mothers and 30 fragile newborns receiving specialized neonatal care.
“Supporting this transformative initiative aligns perfectly with our vision of creating sustainable healthcare solutions,” said Dr. Rasik Kantaria, Prime Bank Chairman, during the handover ceremony.
“We’re proud to partner in building healthier communities through equitable access to quality medical care,” added Dr. Kantaria.
The facility’s unique capabilities – including the region’s only surgical theater and blood transfusion unit – have enabled comprehensive emergency care for over 2,000 patients. Its innovative telemedicine collaboration with Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital has eliminated geographical barriers, providing 2,054 remote specialist consultations for young patients.
Maa Trust Foundation Chairman Terry Davidson who received the donation on behalf of the trust noted that the partnership demonstrated how strategic collaborations could drive meaningful change.
“Prime Bank’s support will directly expand our capacity to serve vulnerable families across Maasai Mara.” He added.
As the only comprehensive maternal health center in the region, the Talek facility has significantly reduced pregnancy-related complications while serving as a model for rural healthcare innovation. Prime Bank’s investment underscores its three-decade legacy of corporate citizenship, particularly in healthcare and community development initiatives across East Africa.
